The New Canon G12 Review
Welcome to the Canon G12 Review. The G12 is the latest in the award winning Powershot G-Series which is used and trusted by professional photographers all over the world!
So what's new with the Canon G12? The big news is the addition of the 720p HD movie recording and Hybrid IS which makes up for the omission on the Canon G11. This offers superior performance by delivering premium image quality in stills and movies.
Also, the new front dial gives improved handling and quick manual control. You also get fuller coverage in the zoom range with the new optional Lens Filter Adapter.
The Canon Powershot G12 Features.
1. HS System
This provides outstanding picture quality even in low light. The HS System is a powerful combination of 10 megapixel CCD Sensor and Digic 4 processor. The Canon G12 is the first in the G Series to include the HS System.
So how does the HS system really benefit the photographer? It allows users to shoot darker scenes without engaging the flash. This gives more accurate exposure by only using the available light which gives exceptional image quality in all conditions.
In very dark situations, Low Light mode can be used to extend the ISO range up to ISO 12800, with the ability for users to control ISO and white balance to accurately capture the ambience of a dimly-lit environment. Users can also capture fast-moving action with the ability to shoot at up to 4.2 shots per second.
2. 28mm wide-angle 5x optical zoom lens
This lens allows users to capture wide views of landscapes whilst capturing distant subjects. The lens ensures the capture of sharp, detailed shots and can focus as close as 1cm to a subject! It is compact and able to retract back in to the camera.
3. Hybrid IS Technology
When the shot is highly magnified, the slightest movement creates blurred images and this is especially so with increased image magnification. This makes it difficult to take great shots without the use of a tripod to stabilise the camera.
Hybrid IS counteracts unintentional shift and angular movement. These 2 types of movement become very pronounced at increased levels of magnification. Hybrid IS removes the risk of blur and gives crystal clear images at a distance.
Canon G12 Review
The G12 targets photographers who want to make the jump from a basic to an advanced compact camera. It targets Digital SLR users who also want something more discrete without sacrificing quality.
Canon brought out the G12 after Nikon brought out the P7000 to rival it. Canon then came back with The G12 and added the Hybrid IS and the HDR Mode.
With the exceptional features on the Canon G12, you get to capture scenes as accurately as you see them.
The HS System 10 megapixel CMOS sensor, 5x lens with teleconverter, DIGIC 4 processor, and 2.8-inch 461k-dot articulated LCD remain the same, but now you get new Canon's Hybrid IS system from the S95 for better macro performance, along with a new HDR mode for all your ultra-trendy hyperrealistic shots.
It launches in early October -- get your Canon G12 and put it through it's paces!
The Canon G12 is due for UK Release on the 8th October, 2010

Very impressed with picture quality and incredible optical zoom function. Really enjoy large viewing screen that remains clear even in bright sunlight.
