yeah it is, i just bought 320 gb sony playstation 3 and im playing final fantasy 8 on it right now, thats the only game ive tried so far but it definently works

I can't play ps2 games on mine
Mine doesn't either mate. I've only tried vice city but everywhere i've read says they don't have the software emulator that enables them to play ps2 games.
this is crap i bought the 320gb because of the backwards compatibility but none of my ps2 games work

Omg, they told me in the shop that i can play ps2 games.. but i can't ! LOL
The 320GB model can play PS1 games, and that is all! It cannot play PS2 due to the emulation chip being removed from the slim versions to keep down costs of production!

I bought one of the earliest PlayStation's and it only has 40 GB. It's amazing how far technology has come that they made it with so much memory and so compact.
